Assistance League members organize and actively participate in a variety of activities for guests at Joy’s House and residents of North Capitol. Everyone benefits from the visits and parties. These activities include games, reading, music, and clerical help. ALI Friends also hosts monthly birthday parties, as well as seasonal parties.
In addition to companionship, ALI Friends also addressed some of the physical needs of both locations during the past year. At Joy's House, our members identified a need for a comfortable space for guests to visit with each other and to wait for their rides at the end of the day. Assistance League purchased furniture for this space that includes a couch, an end table and two chairs. The purchase was funded from the ALI Friends annual budget and from direct donations by Assistance League members.
Similiarly, ALI Friends responded to a need at North Capitol Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for a flat screen television. Funded from the program's annual budget, this gift will bring hours of entertainment to the residents.
