Each child receives one new pair of athletic shoes and two pair of socks. There are two sessions planned during which the children are fitted and given their new shoes and socks to take home.  Students attending the Township schools will receives their shoes on October 14th, 15th, and 30th; IPS students will be fitted in February over a two week period.

Assistance League purchases the shoes from Shoe Carnival at a negotiated cost.  Shoe Carnival selects the styles that will fit the widest range of ages and shoe sizes for the thousands of children that benefit from the Shoes program.  Assistance League members work side-by-side with Shoe Carnival personnel to conduct the fittings and transport the stock of shoes for each scheduled session.

During the 2009-2010 school year the Shoes Program will provide 2,500 pairs of shoes and 5,000 pairs of socks for children from Even Start through Grade 8 who attend Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) and the elementary schools from The Metropolitan School Districts of Warren, Pike, Washington and Lawrence Townships.

Metropolitan School Districts:

• Lawrence - 200 students (October 14 and October 30)
• Pike Township - 200 children (October 16)
• Warren Township - 200 students (October 30)
• Washington Township - 200 children (October 14)

In addition, on December 4th, all 300+ students attending Daniel Webster Elementary School will receive new shoes and socks through a generous donation from the Robert Moeder family (shoes) and Kroger Food Stores (socks).
